Each band member was asked to answer the same following questions. Here’s Charlie’s answers.
What do you see as your main role in the band?
Beer drinker and hell raiser, oh yeah and I’m the sound man I try to bring it all together in a consistant sound no matter where we are playing so the people that come and see the band know what to expect.
List other roles you believe you fill in the band.
I bitch at everyone, but it’s all for the good of our sound.
List your musical influences (in no particular order).
As far as bands go, my influences are wide: Kansas, Dream Theater, Yes, Eagles, Jethro Tull, Sting, Aerosmith, Queensryche, Boston and Johnny Cash.
I think progressive rock would be my main musical theme, but I also like blues, jazz and bluegrass.
As far as people in the industry, I have been influenced by Mutt Lange, Tom Scholz, Mark Teeters and many others. I think Mark has an effect on everyone he works with.
What musical instruments do you play?
Not much of anything. Just a little bass guitar. I turn the knobs.
What kind of equipment do you use?
Where do I start its a hodge podge but it works. Speakers- EV, JBL, Sound Tech; Amps- Acoustic (Crest), QSC, Peavey on monitors; Mixer-24 channel Behringer; Rack gear- 31 band SoundTech EQ, Alesis Quadraverb Q2, BPE Sonic Maximizer (on monitors); Three way crossover, LOL Sorry can’t remember the brand. Its something I have been wanting to replace
Why did you get into the music business?
I love music.
If you were banished to an island for the rest of your life and you could only take 5 CDs with you, what would they be?
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Kansas - Leftoverture
Heart - Dog & Butterfly
Boston - Boston
I don’t know what else. Too many.
100 years from now, if this band is remembered, what would you like people to remember about it?
Hopefully that we worked hard and made it doing things our own way.
100 years from now, what would you like people to remember about you?
I would help anyone who asked if I could, that I loved music and I worked hard and that now that I’m gone they’re glad they didn’t have to work with that ASSHOLE. I can be tough, LOL
List anything else about yourself and/or the band that you would like included in your bio:
Guys it’s not all titties and beer; it’s hard work. Gals, you’re one of the guys unless it’s a girl band. Trust your ears; be your toughest critic all the time. I am. It’s been one hell of a ride.
